Rules[]

  • Round 1 (The Meltdown): The first round consisted of all five DP members battling to be the last man standing on the mechanical game Meltdown; a machine of two spinning hazards to dodge by jumping and ducking. Winner advances to the finale.
  • Round 2 (Coconut Climb): The remaining four competitors battle to be the first to climb up the top of a sumo tree and hit a button to win. Winner advances to the finale.
  • Finale (Boot Camp Challenge): The two finalists compete in a race from the start to end of the Boot Camp Challenge inflatable course. First to reach the end wins the battle.

Summary[]

Round 1[]

In the Meltdown competition right from the start as all competitors jump into their place, Garrett is immediately knocked over by the lower obstacle whilst Cody is knocked out from the top one by not crouching enough. With three remaining and surviving occurances, Cory cannot keep up and is knocked out by the lower half leaving Tyler and Coby for the first spot in the finale. Tyler fails a jump and is knocked out, as Coby becomes the last man standing and advances to the finale. Even so, Tyler encourages Coby by his support in "Team Coby".

Round 2[]

Prior to the start of the coconut tree climb, Garrett questions to Tyler if there are any specific rules regarding the contest and reaching the top to hit the button. Tyler ensures there are no rules besides reaching to the top. As the round begins, most struggle to reach the halfway point as Garrett is insighted in the moment that instead of using the branch to climb himself up, he instead uses the ladder frames of the setup to climb up to the button and hit it in regards to him being told are there no specific rules on how to reach the top and hit the button and advances to the finale.

Finale[]

With Coby and Garrett advanced to the finale; the Boot Camp Challenge inflatable course challenge, Coby is further encouraged by Tyler's support with Garrett making his usual predictions that Coby will not win. As the race begins, neither could fit through the holes to enter the course due to the large sumo outfit size, so the race is re-chosen to begin inside the course. Both begin by successfully jumping through a high obstacle as Coby charges past Garrett into the lead. Coby struggles to advance through some extremely thick inflatable obstacles, as Garrett sneaks past him into the lead. This is continued by Garrett climbing up the last obstacles, as Coby grabs a hold of his sumo outfit and is dragged down with Coby moving past him. With this, he strolls down the slide reaching the end of the course and wins the battle; elated and cheered with the others for him winning his first solo battle.

Aftermath[]

Celebration event[]

Coby first win celeberation event 2017

With Coby's first solo battle win confirmed, a celebration event was held a week later outside the office with fans and entertainment. It is celebrated with Coby dressed in a king outfit rode by a horse being accepted his first solo battle win on a stage being presented his first trophy; an extremely tall four-layered trophy. Alongside this, he gives a speech to the fans remarking on his backstory and journey of his timeline towards this present day: that he for a long time could not win a battle despite his persistences. With this he ensures to the fans, that "their battles are real" in the sense that trying to achieve something despite its difficulty can be achieved eventually. He concludes by honouring his six finale losses prior by Tyler releasing six doves from a love-heart shaped basket into the sky.

Cheating admits[]

In the Almost Athletes podcast released on October 8, 2025; eight-and-a-half years on from this battle. Sparky asks if any DP members had been caught cheating in a DP live battle, Garrett on the set assured that he did in this particular battle based on his rule bending in the second round where he used the ladder frames to climb the coconut tree instead of the branch. Because of this, he reveals that during the finale against Coby he essentially gave up and let him win because of his way of how he advanced to the finale in the first place.

Trivia[]

  • This video was Coby's first battle win after the 4-year wait.
  • The final battle, and the parade parts of the video were reused (Battle) and made for an extended behind-the-scenes (Parade) preparation for the "Coby's Parade" segment of their CMT, now Nickelodeon show, "The Dude Perfect Show".
  • This is the first battle where a party is held after someone wins.
  • Irony: Coby could’ve just went to the other side of the inflatable trampoline instead of pulling Garrett off of the side.
